I don't typically rant on this blog, but after the big reveal of Pandora (formerly the "Craiginator") today, I'm just... underwhelmed. The system just looks... awkward. The position of the D-Pad and action buttons (near the top of the lower panel, to allow for a QWERTY keyboard beneath) doesn't look like it would be comfortable in one's hands. And although the Pandora is certainly a step up from the GP2X, the price is astronomical for a handheld video game system (regardless of whatever little applications they want to put in it, let's face it - it's a video game system): Since I live in the U.S., it would cost me almost $400! Not that anyone cares -- there's a general attitude of "sucks to be you" regarding how much an American would have to shell out to get their hands on a Pandora.
ANYway... I'm sure the Pandora is a neat little system, and I have to give props to it's creators for taking the initiative, but it's not for me. Even if I had $400 to blow on anything I wanted, it would not be the Pandora. And I'm really tired of people getting so wrapped up in Pandora's hype that, in their minds, the GP2X is suddenly garbage -- it's part of the reason I started this blog - to devote total focus to the GP2X, and the F-200 unit in particular, for GP2X owners and fans. In fact, this is the last mention you'll see of the Pandora on this blog... I just had to vent a little.
